Natural Health - Top 5 Organic Foods to Start Buying For Greater Health
Do you really need to go organic if you want to achieve greater health in your life? That’s what I’ve been asking myself every time I go to the grocery store and see all the rising prices of basic food items. Well, the truth is many of us have been unaware of the toxins we’ve been putting into our bodies through our diets which have typically been high in fat and sugar, low in fiber, and also containing processed and chemically treated foods as well. This has caused excess toxin levels in our bodies which it has to work harder to try to process and eliminate or they will seep into the body and cause many disorders and diseases, even cancer. An important thing we can do for greater health in our life is to lower our toxin levels in our bodies by first choosing a healthier diet of natural foods that are higher in fiber, lower in sugar and contain powerful vitamins and antioxidants. However, in addition, we can lower our toxin levels and increase our health even more by choosing organic food products whenever possible and available. Organic foods tend to be a little bit more expensive, but are much more healthier foods because they have been grown or produced without the use of dangerous chemicals, pesticides and herbicides and in the case of meats, without the use of antibiotics or hormones, and therefore have lower toxin levels and a higher vitamin and nutrient content.
Whenever possible and budget permitting, you should choose organic foods over non-organic foods and to help you get started, I’ve put together a quick list of the top 5 organic foods you should start with in getting going organic in your home for yourself and your family:
1. Meats & Poultry:
For those of you who haven’t given up meat yet in your diet (myself included), look for certified organic meats and poultry products which have come from organically fed animals and farms.
2. Dairy Products:
When shopping for low fat milk, yogurt or cheese, look for dairy products which are labeled organic from organic dairy farms where they feed their animals with chemical free feed and grains.
3. Coffee:
Coffee which is imported from foreign countries typically is grown with even less regulations against the use of pesticides than we have here in the U.S. Instead, look for packages of coffee labeled with the Fair Trade Certified Organic labels which means that the local farmer whom it was purchased from didn’t use chemicals or pesticides when growing his crops.
4. Vegetables:
Many vegetables are typically loaded with pesticides in order to keep them insect free. Vegetables that have very thin or no protective skins are typically the most dangerous because the pesticide is literally impossible to wash off and can even be absorbed. Whenever possible, look for and purchase organic lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, and celery.
5. Fruits:
Same as the vegetables, many fruits are heavily contaminated with pesticides and if they have a thin or no outer protective skin, can be very dangerous to consume. When shopping for fruits, look for and purchase organic peaches, apples, strawberries and grapes.

Maybe you have a favorite health drink, but if you know people who still consume soft drinks then you will want to share this news with them. Just look around and you will see the many ways that these bubbly little beverages are destroying America’s health, but here are a few specifics.
1. Soft drinks work very much like a diuretic, robbing the body of essential hydration. A considerable amount of water is required just to process the high levels of sugar in sodas. To replace what is stolen, you need to drink 8-12 glasses of water for every soft drink that you consume!
