Water Isn’t Just Water Any More
It’s doubtful whether or not anyone today except possibly a senior citizen can remember a time when drinking water was something that you never had to give a second thought. You knew it was clean, knew it was pure, and there was no need for any sort of testing. The mountain springs were pure and untouched, and if by chance you happened upon one of them on a camping trip, you could scoop some of that sparkling water up in your hands and drink to your heart’s content without any fear of that water making you sick. Just try doing that today!
For many, many people, if it isn’t bottled water, it won’t pass through their lips. This happened fairly quickly if you stop and think about it. When we first started to noticed bottled water in movies and television programs, we laughed. Who in the world would pay money for something that everyone has in their homes for free? We’d read snippets in the tabloid newspapers about famous personalities who would only give their pets bottled water to drink, and shake our heads in disbelief. During this time, there were three, maybe four brands of bottled water tops. The selection was nowhere near as wide and varied as it is today.
This was a time pre 1976, which has been estimated as the time when people first started to drink bottled water instead of the tap water that flowed from their kitchens. Have you noticed that you don’t see water fountains in public buildings like you did in the mid 70s? Back then, they were a necessity, for people didn’t carry a bottle of water with them everywhere. Nowadays, a water fountain seems rather redundant. That’s not to say you don’t see them, but they are they “new”, bottled water kind of water cooler/fountain. The little cups are the same, still looking like pointy white dunce caps, but the water is certainly different than it was in the 70s.
Bottled water is everywhere you look, it seems. In offices, homes, restaurants, homes, and even on airplanes. The last time I flew, I watched as the flight attendant poured water into a cup from a 1 liter bottle of spring water. (The airlines are too cheap to give you your own bottle of water! Those smaller bottles called Aquapods would be perfect for this. Maybe I ought to write the airlines, because pouring into multiple cups from one bottle doesn’t seem sanitary to me.) You can tell that America has taken to bottled water like it was the only kind of water in existence. We consumed more than 9 billion gallons of bottled water last year in America. More money was spent on bottled water in this country last year than on movie tickets or iPods… fifteen billion dollars! The numbers speak for themselves.
Bottled water is better regulated than tap water, better protected than tap water, and safer than tap water. We have all given it our vote by willingly buying it, plain bottled water and flavored bottled water. If there were no more of this, no more plastic bottles filled with sparkling goodness, I wonder what the people of America would do?
Water isn’t just water any more. It has been describe as “liquid gold” and a “gold mine” by those who feel that bottled water is not very environmentally friendly, and are thinking about the amount of money that the companies who bottle and sell this water have made. These people also complain bitterly about the huge number of empty plastic bottles that our bottled water creates in the landfills. Yet, you never hear them complain about the plastic bottles that soft drinks come in! What’s the difference? They are both plastic! The plastic bottles for water are not the only disposable plastic item we use!
It’s been said that bottled water should be called a food phenomenon… the food phenomenon of our time. We each drink an estimated 28.3 gallons a year, more than beer, coffee, and even milk. Children are choosing to by bottled water out of the vending machines rather than sugary sodas. Bottled water is making us healthier as a nation.
Did you know that they are now finding prescription drugs in the municipal tap water supplies of more than 41 million people in the USA? Antidepressants, anti psychotics, heart medications, tranquilizers, antibiotics, sex hormones and more! To be sure, they are very, very small amounts, but scientists are concerned about the build up of these drugs in our bodies, and what the long term consequences of this build up could be.
These pills get into the water from people. They take the pills, and their bodies absorb some, but not all of it. The rest is passed into the toilet. This goes into what is called wastewater. Wastewater is treated before it is sent to rivers, lakes, or reservoirs, where municipal water typically comes from. Some of the water is cleansed once more before it runs out of our kitchen faucet, but these treatments can’t get rid of all of the drug residue. Our Federal government requires no testing for drugs in water, and there have been no safety limits set for any prescription drugs in water.
And people try to say that tap water is as safe as bottled water? Don’t you believe it! Bottled water is the best water you could put into your body!

Water (H2O)
Just like the earth, human body is 75% made by water. It’s gospel that water is the essential element for any living objects on the surface of this earth. It controls the activities of cells, tissues, blood, etc to keep our body staying healthy. What do you know about a glass of healthy water? Does a glass of crystal clear water would indicate that it’s healthy water? Let’s see below.
Some parties claim that tap water should not be a choice of drinking water if there are other existing sources. If you have no options but tap water, then you need to boil the water, put in into a clear glass container and leave it under the sun for some time. Then, ventilate it by pouring it from one bottle to another. You need to know that boiling water only could kill the bacteria but the hazardous substances and minerals will still remain in it.
Spring water or what we call mineral water is the water which believed to have useful minerals to our body. However, you can’t deny that the water is not only containing useful mineral, instead it has some unnecessary inorganic minerals and soil. Surprisingly, from what you are believing since you were born is not really the truth about spring water. The negligible amount of the organic minerals in the water would be replaced by a normal balanced diet. You don’t need water minerals to survive indeed.
Reverse osmosis is another type of water which “invented” by the sophisticated technology. The process of reverse osmosis water is just like the process happens within the human body cells. The fluids will be diffused between the intracellular and extracellular spaces. This will enable the H2O solvent to diffuse into the cells while the unused molecules will be blocked through by a semi-permeable membrane. This high-tech process could nearly kill all the harmful bacteria, toxics and minerals. BUT, it could be dangerous if the membrane is damaged without your knowledge because the condition of the water produced will be worse than the unfiltered one.
The last one we talk about here is distilled water. Distilled water is also known as “pure water” since it contains nothing other than H2O molecules. Distilled water is done by boiling the water, collecting the water vapour in a condenser to be cooled and become “pure water”. However, gases such as fluorine and chlorine will also be evaporated over into the condenser during the distillation process. Then, scientists had developed an advanced distillation method - C. M. D technique which is cold molecular distillation. C. M. D water is used for medical purposes, allergy chemical patients, dialysis patients. Distilled water is believed to be the healthiest water since no substances will be filtered by the kidney and it means the kidney has no burden from the water consumed.
In short, water is a crucial element to stay us alive, it involves in our bodily functions: elimination, digestion, assimilation, respiration, controlling body temperature, etc. But nowadays, more water sources are polluted. You really have to be careful with the water you are drinking. If you could afford, perhaps you should consider buying a C. M. D machine in your home?

Water And Your Heart
Day 1: Water & Your Heart
Drinking high levels of water can significantly reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, say researchers at Loma Linda University whose research was reported in the American Journal of Epidemiology (Vol. 155, No.9). This exciting study reveals that drinking high amounts of plain water is as important as exercise, diet, or not smoking in preventing coronary heart disease.
“Basically, not drinking enough water can be as harmful to your heart as smoking,” warns Jacqueline Chan, DrPH, principle investigator and lead author of the article. Dr. Chan and Synnove Knutson, MD , PhD , second author, chair of epidemiology department, found that California Seventh-day Adventists who drink five or more glasses of plain water a day have a much lower risk of fatal coronary heart disease compared to those who drink less than two glasses per day.
The results from this study show that by drinking more plain water, healthy people without any history of heart disease, stroke, or diabetes– reduced their risk of dying from a heart attack by half or more . This is as much or more than if they had adopted any other well-known preventive measure, including stopping smoking and lowering cholesterol levels, increasing exercise or maintaining ideal weight.
Because drinking more plain water is a simple lifestyle change that anybody can do, this simple practice has the potential of saving tens of thousands of lives each year with minimal cost . Neither total fluid intake, nor intake of other fluids combined showed this reduced risk. Instead, for women, high intake (5 or more glasses a day) of other fluids showed a greatly increased risk of coronary heart disease.
“People need to be made aware that there is a difference, at least for heart health, whether they get their fluids from plain water or from sodas,” says Dr. Chan.

Clean Drinking Water - What You Can’t See Can Hurt You
The need for clean drinking water cannot be overstated. What’s the purest drinking water available? Well you won’t find it in a bottle at the grocery store, that’s for sure.
If you do some research, you will learn that clean drinking water may no longer exist on our planet, at least in a natural setting. If you do a little more research, you might start to get a little scared.
Protected springs were once considered the sources of the purest drinking water available. People who had private wells felt there was no need to worry. Now, without testing, you cannot be sure that a spring or a well is not contaminated and such levels can change on a daily basis, even testing is no guarantee.
Bug sprays, weed killers and other chemicals, parasites, protozoa, bacteria and other microscopic life forms are all found in groundwater. Recent testing revealed prescription drugs and hormones in what was supposed to be clean drinking water.
Perrier, which has long been considered the purest drinking water, was found to contain toxic levels of benzene. When ingested, the chemical causes vomiting, dizziness, sleepiness, convulsions and death. Chronic or long term exposure causes leukemia, a type of cancer.
When companies store clean drinking water in plastic containers and ship them around the world, it absorbs BPA and phthalates. Both of these act like hormones and can cause symptoms ranging from irritability to permanent changes in the genital tract and cancer. So, what are we supposed to do?
If you want to provide the purest drinking water to your family, you have to install the best filtration system and use glass bottles for storing it. With today’s technology, it is possible to clean drinking water in the home more effectively than what can be done at the treatment facility.
The facilities do a good job, serious waterborne illnesses are rare. But, the long term detrimental health effects of chemical disinfection may be just as bad. Chlorine and its by-products have been linked with an increased risk of cancer in numerous studies. And, even if you have clean drinking water in the kitchen, you are still not safe.
In the shower, chemicals become vaporized. Inhaling allows them to enter the bloodstream even more quickly than if ingested by mouth. Chlorine vapors trigger asthma attacks. Its by-products cause dizziness and drowsiness. Either through inhaling or skin absorption, they enter the body and have been linked to rectal and breast cancer.
You want to purest drinking water, but you don’t want these chemicals anywhere in your home. You can get reasonably priced showerhead filters or even a whole house filtration system and get a little more peace of mind.
We often think of clean drinking water as a right, but we must stop relying on others to provide it. Point of use or home filtration is the right thing to do.
